Sign in to TalkWriter on mobile
Signing in connects your phone to your TalkWriter account so AI features work and your data syncs everywhere. It's the first thing to do after installing — see Download & install if you haven't yet.
How to sign in
- Open TalkWriter on your iPhone, iPad, or Android phone.
- On the sign-in screen, choose how you want to sign in:
- Continue with Apple (iOS)
- Continue with Google
- Continue with email — enter your email and follow the prompts.
- Approve the sign-in if your device asks (Face ID, Touch ID, or your Google account picker).
That's it — you're signed in, and any data already on your account starts syncing down.
Sign in with the same account on Mac, iPhone, and Android. Your Pro plan, dictionary, snippets, and meetings follow you across every device automatically.
What syncs vs. what stays on this device
TalkWriter keeps your content in the cloud and your preferences local:
Synced across Mac, iPhone, and Android:
- Meetings — recordings, transcripts, speaker labels, and Q&A
- Dictionary — custom words, names, and spellings
- Snippets — your short triggers and their expansions
- Dictation history — past transcriptions
Device-local (not synced):
- Settings — spoken/input language, writing language, TalkTone defaults, and permissions are set per device.
Your language and tone preferences often differ by device — you might dictate in one language on your phone and another on your Mac. Keeping settings local lets each device behave the way you want it to.
Switch accounts or sign out
- Open the app and go to Settings.
- Scroll to the account section.
- Tap Sign out.
- To use a different account, sign back in with the credentials you want from the sign-in screen.
After signing out, locally cached data is cleared from that device; it stays safe in the cloud and reappears when you sign back in.
FAQs
Do I need an account? Yes. TalkWriter's AI features — dictation, TalkTone rewriting, and meeting Q&A — run securely in the cloud, so they require a signed-in account. The keyboard also uses your account to reach those features.
Will my Mac data appear on my phone? Yes. Once you sign in with the same account, your meetings, dictionary, snippets, and dictation history sync down automatically. Give it a moment after first sign-in for everything to arrive.
Which sign-in method should I use? Any of them — they all reach the same account. Just be consistent: if you signed up with Google, sign in with Google on every device so they share one account.
I signed in but nothing synced. Make sure you used the same account as your other devices and that you're online. Cloud sync needs an internet connection. If it persists, see Troubleshooting on mobile.
Do my settings carry over to a new phone? No — settings like language and TalkTone defaults are device-local, so you set those once per device. Your meetings, dictionary, snippets, and history do carry over.
