TalkWriter tracks your dictation activity and presents it as clear, actionable statistics. Use these insights to understand your productivity and improve your workflow.
Accessing Analytics
- Click the TalkWriter menu bar icon
- Select Analytics from the dropdown
The analytics dashboard shows your dictation stats across several time periods.
Key Metrics Explained
Words Dictated
Track how many words you have dictated over time:

| This month | Monthly total with a trend chart |
| All time | Your cumulative word count |
Word counts include all dictation — Scratchpad, external applications, and any other target where TalkWriter inserted text.
Average Session Length
- Average words per session — how much you typically dictate at once
- Average duration — how long you speak per session
- Longest session — your record dictation
Dictation Frequency
A calendar heatmap shows which days you dictate the most. Darker shading means more activity. This helps you spot your most productive days.
Application Breakdown
See which apps receive the most dictated text:

Plan Usage (Free Plan)
If you are on the Free plan (2,000 words/week), the dashboard prominently displays:
- Words used this week — current usage against the weekly limit
- Words remaining — how many you have left
- Reset date — when your weekly allowance renews
Upgrading to Pro ($9.99/mo) or Enterprise ($29/mo) removes the weekly word limit entirely. See Upgrading.
Weekly and Monthly Trends
The trend charts show your dictation volume over time. Look for patterns:
- Consistent growth — you are dictating more as you get comfortable
- Spikes — high-volume days often correspond to deadlines
- Quiet periods — natural dips during vacations or lighter workloads

Are analytics available on the Free plan? Yes. All users have access to analytics including word count tracking and plan usage monitoring.
Can I export my analytics data? You can export session data and calculate your own analytics in a spreadsheet. Direct analytics export is planned for a future update.
Does TalkWriter share my analytics with anyone? No. Your analytics are private and tied to your account. They are never shared with third parties.
