Notification Preferences

TalkWriter uses macOS notifications to keep you informed about dictation events, plan usage, and updates. You can customize exactly which notifications you receive and when.

Accessing Notification Settings

  1. Open Settings (Cmd + ,)
  2. Navigate to the Notifications section

Session Notifications

Plan usage notifications only appear for Free plan users (2,000 words/week). Pro and Enterprise users do not see these.

Customizing Notifications

Toggle each notification individually:

  1. Find the notification in the list
  2. Click the toggle to enable or disable it

Changes take effect immediately.

Quiet Hours

Quiet Hours silences all TalkWriter notifications during specified time periods.

  1. Open Settings > Notifications
  2. Toggle Quiet Hours on
  3. Set your start time and end time

During quiet hours, notifications are suppressed entirely. They do not queue up.

tip

Set quiet hours to match your focus time or overnight hours. For example, 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM prevents late-night update notifications.

macOS Notification Settings

TalkWriter respects your system-level settings. If you have disabled notifications for TalkWriter in System Settings > Notifications, no notifications appear regardless of in-app settings.

FAQ

Why am I not seeing any notifications? Check both TalkWriter's in-app notification settings and macOS System Settings > Notifications. Also verify that Focus mode or Do Not Disturb is not active.

Can I get notifications on my iPhone? TalkWriter notifications are delivered through macOS only and do not sync to other Apple devices.

Do notifications appear during presentations? If macOS Focus mode or Do Not Disturb is active, notifications are suppressed. You can also use TalkWriter's Quiet Hours.
